The Promise of Spring

Why this promise is always kept

So you’ve made it through the cold, dark tunnel of winter. As our ancestors did, we must ensure that we and our loved ones are warm and fed. The spring brings with it a promise of all that nourishes the human soul: sunshine, floral scents and the visual lushness of trees sprouting light, delicate green leaves. As well as, the distinct excitement of love, lust and the possibility of meaningful connection.

Spring forces faith in many forms, we must remember more light will return, as it did for our parents and their parents and all the generations before us. All humankind has shared the story of the springtime that follows the dead of winter. What if that story includes an even greater promise?

What if springtime brought with it an undeniable beauty that allowed each one of us to effortlessly stand in awe of the perfection of this “supposed mess”. Just as the flowers burst through the soil after being supposedly absent from the world for months, perhaps we too can muster our faith in the promise of loving kindness blossoming through the atmosphere of our human eco- system. My great-grandma, Sarah promised this splendid moment to me, as well, when she spoke of the spring. She had faith in the deliverance of life and the rejuvenation as her personal promise from Spring. No matter the difficulties of winter, it always rang true.

Allow me to ask…Is there something you would like to experience as your promise of spring?

Health? Peace? Calm? Balance? Loving Kindness?

The sages say that today is the first day of the rest of your life. That is certainly true. I encourage you to gather the vital and delightful energies of your promises from spring. Boldly imagine and allow what honors you in the keeping of that promise.
